2026 World Cup Breaks Attendance Record Before Knockouts Begin

The 2026 World Cup has passed the all-time attendance record, reaching 3,695,357 fans after 56 matches and topping 1994’s mark of 3,587,538. The milestone comes in the first 48-team edition, with knockout rounds still to come. In 1994, a 24-team tournament drew its record across 52 total matches. The tournament expanded to 32 teams later, before increasing to 2026's 48.
