Anthony Volpe Undergoes Left Shoulder Surgery; Yankees Expect 2026 Return

After playing through a partial left-labrum tear since May, when he felt a “pop” on a dive, Volpe had surgery. He got cortisone shots at the All-Star break and in September, but still hit .212/.272/.391 with 19 homers and finished at -7 OAA. Yankees still backs him for 2026, though José Caballero’s emergence could spur shortstop depth moves this winter.
