Astros Prioritize Deadline Money In Lance McCullers Brewers Move

Bob Nightengale reported Houston’s McCullers trade is about clearing deadline money, not landing one of Milwaukee’s prized prospects. The Astros will pay down a chunk of the right-hander’s $17 million salary in the final year of his five-year, $85 million deal. McCullers waived his no-trade clause, giving the Astros more flexibility before the trade deadline.
