Bo Bichette, Jorge Polanco Put Mets in Rare Opening Day Company

The Mets officially opened 2026 with Bichette at third and Polanco at first, becoming just the second team in the last 100 years to start two non-rookie infielders on Opening Day with one or zero prior MLB games at those positions. The only other team was Brooklyn’s 1948 Dodgers, who started Jackie Robinson at second and Billy Cox at third.
