MLBPA Chief Calls MLB Salary Cap Campaign ‘Perverse’ Amid Labor Fight

Meyer accused MLB management of selling fans a false crisis while attendance trends toward its best mark since 2017. He called the league’s salary-cap messaging “perverse” and said the system would hurt players “for generations to come.” With the labor deal expiring on Dec. 1, management is expected to push toward another lockout after proposing a cap in May.
