Buster Olney Says Kevin Gausman’s Jays Deal Delivered ‘Best’ Free-Agent Value

Olney wrote Gausman ranks among the best free-agent starters “in recent decades” after signing five years, $110M with Toronto. From 2021–25, he made 158 starts with a 3.34 ERA, 925 2/3 innings and 1,020 strikeouts. Olney added Gausman produced 16.4 WAR over that run and now enters the final season of his contract with the Blue Jays.
