Butch Harmon Says Tiger Woods’ First Line Was ‘Kind of Cocky’

Harmon recalled meeting 17-year-old Woods in August 1993 at Houston’s Lochinvar Golf Club after the U.S. Amateur. Asked what shot shape he trusted under pressure, Woods replied, “Oh, heck, I just hit it as hard as I can and go find it again.” Harmon said, “this is kind of a cocky SOB,” but praised his fearlessness and clutch record in six straight national finals.
