Canada Approved Only 41% of World Cup Fan Visa Applications

Canada processed nearly 17,000 World Cup-related visitor applications from Nov. 14 to March 31, approving only 41%, according to IRCC data. Ghana fans filed at least 1,725 requests, but under 11% were approved, while Colombia reached 69%. IRCC said it wants travel “as simple and smooth as possible” without compromising safety, with visa applicants facing far tougher odds.
