Cap Rules Complicate Clippers’ Move With Chris Paul

Cap expert Keith Smith says the Clippers are unlikely to simply waive Paul. His minimum deal is fully guaranteed and L.A. is already tight to the first apron hard cap. Waiving him would drop them to 13 players, a temporary limit, forcing another signing. Instead, Smith expects L.A. to explore trades once Paul becomes eligible December 15.
