Cardinals Pay $20 Million To Move Sonny Gray To Red Sox

Ken Rosenthal reports the Cardinals will send the Red Sox $20 million, leaving Boston on the hook for $21 million of Gray’s revamped 2026 deal. Gray now gets $41 million guaranteed, $1 million more than his previous contract, as an inducement for waiving his no-trade clause. Boston prospects Richard Fitts and Brandon Clarke heading to the Cardinals reflects that subsidy.
