Carlos Hernández Interested in San Diego Padres’ Manager Opening

“I want to be a champion in San Diego,” Hernández told The Athletic, seeking the Padres job after 14 seasons as their Spanish-language analyst. The 1998 World Series catcher previously managed Tijuana to the postseason and worked as a catching coordinator in San Diego and Arizona. Bilingual, he competes against Albert Pujols, Ruben Niebla, and Brian Esposito, among others.
