Danny Kanell Warns Duke-Mensah Settlement Sets Dangerous Precedent for NIL Era

Former Florida State QB Danny Kanell ripped Duke’s settlement with transfer quarterback Darian Mensah, calling it “awful for college football.” Kanell said Duke “threw in the white towel” after failing to enforce Mensah’s $8 million NIL deal, arguing the move cripples the ACC champions and proves current contracts “can’t hold up in court.” Mensah has since officially transferred to Miami.

Chargers Hire Western Michigan’s Chris O'Leary As New DC

The Chargers are hiring Western Michigan defensive coordinator Chris O'Leary as their defensive coordinator, Adam Schefter reported. O’Leary returns to the Chargers, where he worked as safeties coach under Jesse Minter in 2024. Prior to the Chargers, O’Leary coached the secondary at Notre Dame under Marcus Freeman. The Chargers were looking for a new DC after Jesse Minter's departure to become the Baltimore Ravens' head coach.
