Allin called his singles match with Gunther (then WALTER) his favorite on the independents, but said it nearly never happened. He was booked a month earlier, then suffered a brain bleed after smashing his head on concrete at a morning show. “You’re bleeding from the brain… we had to put you under,” he recalled, saying he “probably would have died” wrestling that night. He later returned and called the match “incredible.”
