David Stearns Says Mets Didn’t Block Francisco Lindor From WBC

Stearns said the Mets “had nothing to do with” Lindor not being cleared to play in the World Baseball Classic. “I actually don’t know why he wasn’t given clearance,” Stearns said, adding Lindor “wasn’t approved for insurance.” He stressed “clubs have no part in that,” saying it’s handled through the MLBPA and Major League Baseball. Lindor’s status now shifts back to his regular-season prep with New York.
