Denny Hamlin Reveals How NASCAR's Sponsorship Restrictions Cost Teams Millions of Dollars
Hamlin explained that once NASCAR signs a category partner, teams lose their entire freedom and cannot seek sponsorship from a competing brand. "We probably pay about $700,000 a year in tires. Goodyear is the official provider, and we have to purchase them," said Hamlin. "Teams cannot go and get Michelin to sponsor the car," regardless of competitive benefit or financial upside.
