Diego Lopes Stops Steve Garcia With Second-Round TKO at UFC Freedom 250

Lopes turned the tide in Round 2 to score a TKO stoppage of Steve Garcia in the featherweight opener on the White House South Lawn. After Garcia controlled much of Round 1 with jabs and body kicks, Lopes hurt him badly with hooks, swarmed with bombs, and forced the referee to wave it off. The win firmly plants Lopes as No. 2 in the division.

‘The Claw,’ an 85-foot-tall metal structure above the Octagon that will host Freedom 250 on White House grounds tonight, was created by Stageco, a Belgian event staging company. It was made abroad and shipped to TAIT Towers in Pennsylvania for assembly. “Building in an empty parking lot certainly caught the attention of the neighborhood,” UFC executive producer Craig Borsari said.
