Dominique Wilkins Recalls Being in “Awe” During His First Dunk Contest
Wilkins said participating in the dunk contest was his way of seeing how he stacked up against the greatest dunkers. "I think I was in awe my first dunk contest. So I didn't really do what I should've done," Wilkins said, recalling competing against Julius Earning and Larry Nance in 1984. However, in his second contest, in 1985, he won.
