Allar said watching Franklin leave Penn State hit him “personally,” as the coach who guided him to the 2024 CFP now starts over at Virginia Tech. Allar, recovering from a season-ending ankle injury, said they still speak “every other day” and that Franklin’s family “did so much” for him. He called Blacksburg “a perfect fresh start” for his former coach.
