After losing the Xfinity title to Jesse Love at Phoenix, Connor Zilisch became the latest driver, after Jeff Gordon, to enter the unfortunate list. Gordon lost the title to teammate Terry Labonte in 1996. In 1993, Rusty Wallace won 10 races but ultimately lost to Dale Earnhardt. Bill Elliott won 11 races in 1985 but finished second to Darrell Waltrip.
