Duke University Releases Statement on Darian Mensah Lawsuit, Contract Standoff

After suing QB Darian Mensah for entering the transfer portal despite agreeing to return, Duke released a firm statement defending its stance. “Mr. Mensah has an existing contract with Duke which the university intends to honor,” the school said, adding a court-issued TRO ensures he doesn’t violate it. Duke stressed it supports student-athletes while expecting them to “abide by their contractual obligations."
