Elly De La Cruz Turned Down Largest Contract in Reds History
De La Cruz turned down an offer that eclipsed Joey Votto's franchise-record 10-year, $225M contract extension last spring, per C. Kyle Tucker's Deal With the Dodgers A Match Made in Heaven, Says Former Mets GM
Steve Phillips does not blame Tucker "for wanting the most money or going to the team that is the favorite to win the World Series". "He adds length, depth, and balance to the lineup; another all-around player."

Jim Duquette Sees Mets Pushing Toward $400M After Bo Bichette Deal
Duquette told SNY the Mets’ Bichette pivot was “wow, what a quick turnaround” after missing Tucker. He said payroll near $350M could “get close to 400” because “they’re not done” and still need starters. On possible trades, he noted Stearns has “plenty of options,” adding it “wouldn’t shock me” if Baty or Vientos gets moved for pitching.
