Prosecutors say the scheme began in May 2023 with Clase intentionally throwing balls so wagers on balls/strikes could cash, later drawing in Ortiz. The indictment alleges prearranged pitches and kickbacks from hundreds of prop bets. Ortiz was arrested in Boston; Clase hasn’t been.
