Hernández appeared on 196 ballots or 46.1%, a drastic jump from the 20.6% votes he received last year. The 25.5% gain is the largest one-year gain since 1967. This was the pitcher's second year on the ballot. Hernández spent his 15-year career with the Seattle Mariners. The six-time All-Star has the only perfect game by a pitcher in franchise history.
