FIFA Approves New World Cup Rules to Crack Down on Time-Wasting

FIFA has approved new 2026 World Cup rules to cut time-wasting, with substituted players now required to leave within 10 seconds or delay their replacement by a minute. Throw-ins must be taken within five seconds or possession flips. VAR will also review second yellow cards and wrongly awarded corners, as officials push to reduce stoppages and speed up overall matches.
