Former College WR Ryan Coogler Wins First Oscar

Former Sacramento State wide receiver Ryan Coogler won his first Oscar, taking Best Original Screenplay at the 98th Academy Awards for Sinners. Coogler, who played from 2004–07 and recorded 112 catches and over 1,200 yards, transitioned to filmmaking after college. After directing hits like Creed and Black Panther, the decade-long wait ended with a standing ovation in Hollywood.
