Gary Payton Wants Sonics Teammates Honored Before His Jersey Retirement

“I’m not really worried about that… I want my guys to go in there first,” Payton said about jersey retirement with Seattle. The Hall of Fame guard spent 13 seasons with the Sonics, winning Defensive Player of the Year and earning eight All-Star selections. He said he would prefer former teammates be honored before his own number is retired.
