Gennady Golovkin Elected President of World Boxing

Golovkin (42-2) has been elected president of World Boxing for a three-year term. He succeeds Boris van der Vorst. The former unified middleweight champion called it “a privilege” and vowed to put athletes at “heart of every decision.” He pledged to restore trust in Olympic boxing as World Boxing, now IOC-recognized, prepares to run boxing competitions at the 2028 Olympics.
