Guardians Plan Heavy Deferrals in Jose Ramirez Add-On Deal

The Athletic reports Cleveland is nearing a long-term extension that would add $106M across four seasons to Ramirez’s current contract, with about $70M of that future salary deferred. The deal isn’t finalized yet and would include no opt-outs. Ramirez, 33, is already signed through 2028 and ranks second in franchise history with 285 home runs, behind only Jim Thome.
