The ROTY race is a two-man race between former Duke teammates, Flagg and Knueppel. Charles Lee said, "I don't even think it's close. Kon's done a really good job of continuing to separate himself and impact winning," calling Kon consistent on "both ends". Flagg has been averaging 20/6/4 while Kon is putting up 19.3 points on 44 3FG%.

In response to the free throw stats, Charles Lee commented, "42-19 free throws, interesting." Despite this, the Mavs were unable to keep up with the Hornets' offense, especially without Cooper Flagg playing.
