Houston Comets Return Hits Trademark Roadblock Ahead of 2027 Relaunch

The WNBA’s plan to bring back the Houston Comets in 2027 has triggered a federal trademark fight. USA TODAY reported that a Delaware company, TSTM Holdings, filed first for the name, forcing the league into opposition proceedings. Houston’s relocation deal for the Sun is still pending, but losing the mark could complicate the franchise’s comeback and branding plans.
