How Footballs Are Prepped For NFL Gameday

It starts with a multi-step conditioning process to remove the slick factory finish. The equipment staff brushes the leather, applies conditioning products, and uses Lena Blackburne Rubbing Mud to break down the surface and improve the “tack.” Once dried and brushed again, the balls are inflated to league standards and inspected by referees to ensure they meet player preferences.
