Thomas said it is “very awkward” and “very unprofessional” to trade a player “during the middle of the game.” He said players often find out through reporters or fans, adding, “these are human beings with family.” Thomas said the Players Association needs “to get a little bit more heavy-handed” and establish parameters for when and how trades are announced.
