Islam Makhachev Reportedly Offered January UFC Main Event Against Kamaru or Ian Garry

Makhachev’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, says the UFC tried to book the welterweight champion's first defense and even floated ex-champion Usman and #1-ranked Garry as options. “They were asking [Islam] to fight a main event in January,” Abdelaziz said, adding that Makhachev briefly considered it until his close friend and coach, Khabib, told him, “Hey, shut up,” ending talks for now.
