Kevin O'Connor said league sources don’t expect the bar for a Morant deal to be much higher than Atlanta’s return for Young. Memphis is signaling it’ll take on bad contracts if it’s compensated with picks or rookie-scale players. “Think pick swaps, not unprotected firsts,” he wrote. Executives believe even that could require absorbing long-term money before the Feb. 5 deadline.
