Jeff Passan Reveals MLB Proposal Limiting Free Agents to Five Years

MLB has introduced a new proposal in bargaining talks that would limit free agent contracts. "Free agents would be limited to five-year, $202 million contracts," per Passan. Soto's 15-year $765 million deal with the Mets was 3x the years and 3.8x the dollars. It is the largest in professional sports history. The union is unlikely to agree to the measure.
