Jim France Explains Why NASCAR Teams Weren’t Offered Permanent Charters

France told the court he couldn’t promise permanent charters because “I don’t have a sightline to the future,” saying he wouldn’t make promises he “can’t keep.” Teams argued that NASCAR used expiring deals to keep leverage. France added he’s “not comfortable making agreements that go on forever,” sharpening the tension on day 8 of the trial.
