Jurgen Klopp Slams FIFA Cooling Breaks as Advertising Tool
Klopp criticized FIFA’s World Cup cooling breaks on ZDF, saying football is being “held hostage” by executives and that player-welfare language hides sponsor interests. He said matches should “flow like a river,” not stop for televised timeouts. “Who does the World Cup really serve?” he asked, warning that football risks becoming “background music for an advertising spectacle.”
