Following his dominant, unanimous-decision win over Pimblett, the interim lightweight champion admitted he didn’t expect it to go that smoothly, saying, “I was surprised that I was successful.” He revealed, “My coaches told me he’s not going to be crazy, and I didn’t believe it.” Gaethje said he prepared as if Pimblett would be "the best person I’ve ever fought."
