The Mets are far more likely to trade Holmes than extend him before the August deadline. “Holmes is significantly more likely to be traded than extended,” per Rosenthal. He has a 4-4 record, a 2.39 ERA, and 45 strikeouts in 52.2 innings this year, prior to a fractured fibula that has sidelined him since May.
