Chimaev will defend the middleweight title against Strickland at UFC 328 on May 9 in Newark. Chimaev captured gold by dominating Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319 and remains undefeated at 15-0. Strickland earned the shot after stopping Hernandez by TKO in February. The former champion previously beat Adesanya for the belt before losing it to du Plessis.
