Larson led the Hangtown 100 until Daison Pursley’s slide job sent him tumbling into the monster-truck tires. He climbed out unhurt and fired a sarcastic clap and double thumbs-up as the No. 86 rolled past. The flip came 37 laps after his protégé Corey Day also crashed while battling Pursley. Larson was ultimately classified 15th after his retirement.
