McMenamin reported Lakers want James back next season if he chooses to play a 24th year. He said Bron would be “welcomed back” in L.A. Lakers want him to retire a Laker, and sources said that stance wasn’t tied to a specific timeline. It would apply whether his retirement comes in 2026 or 2027, if he extends his career.
