LeBron James Reflects on the Akron Childhood That Shaped His Gratitude

James called his journey “super surreal,” recalling shooting basketballs over clotheslines, through cut-out crates and into homemade wire-hanger rims in Akron’s Elizabeth Park projects. He said he never realized those conditions were not luxury because childhood still felt joyful. Remembering where he came from, and seeing his children thrive today, makes him appreciate everything even more.
