James said his first impression came after studying Reaves’s Wichita State and Oklahoma film. “He didn’t play like a white boy,” James said on Mind the Game, praising Reaves’s “wiggle” and ability to “crack the seams” and get “into the paint.” James said the Lakers lacked that consistently, so in camp he pushed belief into Reaves “from day one.”
