Marcelo Mayer Takes Rafael Devers’ No. 11 as Red Sox Turn Page

Boston reassigned Devers’ former No. 11 to Marcelo Mayer, who switches from No. 39 after debuting in 2025. Devers wore 11 for nine seasons, winning the 2018 World Series and earning three All-Star nods and two Silver Sluggers before his June trade to San Francisco. The jersey shuffle also gave newly acquired Willson Contreras his usual No. 40, with Nate Eaton moving to No. 18.
