Masters Rule Change Ends Automatic Exemptions for PGA Tour Fall Winners

Augusta National and The R&A announced new qualification rules impacting The Masters and The Open. Winners of Fall PGA Tour events will no longer receive automatic invitations. Instead, exemptions go to champions of six national opens — Scotland, Spain, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, and South Africa. Chairman Fred Ridley said the change strengthens global pathways to golf’s biggest stages.
