Max Scherzer’s Velo, Command Impress Blue Jays Early in Camp

Blue Jays' Manager Schneider said he and pitching coach Pete Walker were encouraged watching Scherzer early in camp. “Pleasantly surprised with his location, velo and the shape of his breaking ball,” Schneider said. “It’s ahead of where it was last year.” Scherzer went 5–5 with a 5.19 ERA and 82 strikeouts in 17 starts in 2025.
