Max Verstappen Switches to No. 3 After Getting Daniel Ricciardo’s Blessing

Verstappen will race with No. 3 in 2026, previously used by Ricciardo. The number was already free under F1 rules, having been inactive since 2023, but Verstappen still spoke with Ricciardo before switching. Verstappen ran No. 1 from 2022–2025, but only reigning champions can claim it, and Lando Norris will carry No. 1 after winning the 2025 title.
