Mets Backed Off Robert Suarez as Braves Went to $45 Million

Jon Heyman reported the Mets only “discussed concepts” with Suarez and were reluctant to beat what they gave Devin Williams. The Braves ultimately landed the closer on a three-year, $45 million deal, pairing him with Raisel Iglesias as one of MLB’s top late-inning duos. Williams’ $51 million contract is worth about $44 million once deferrals are factored in.
