Mets’ Final $66M Offer With $21M Deferred Still Couldn’t Keep Edwin Díaz
ESPN’s Jorge Castillo reported Díaz had three-year offers from the Dodgers and Mets, plus a five-year Braves bid, but waited for the Mets. But they offered three years, $66M with $21M deferred, then added a $9M bonus and stretched deferrals to 15 years. Díaz wanted $20M+ AAV and less deferral; the Mets “refused.” The Dodgers sweetened the deal; Díaz left.
